The Icewind Dale games handled hit points on level up better though they were based more on 3rd Edition D&D conventions. You don't get any bonus hit points per level up unless you have a Constitution of 15 or higher, so a lot of party members and player characters could have gimped hit point totals based on unlucky rolls which makes the game difficult. Icewind Dale HP Level Up (In the original Baldur's Gate games and in the Enhanced Editions on the Core Rules difficulty, hit point rolls when leveling up would vary widely and for characters who had little or no Constitution bonus to their hit points they could end up with very little hit points even after leveling up a few times, if you were unlucky. Some class kit mods you may need to google for though.īG1 The Picture Standard (Basically gives you the highest quality character portraits available.)īG2 Tweaks (Essentially gives you the option to alter some functions of the first Baldur's Gate game to be more in line with how some things were handled in the sequel, ask someone further about this one if you need to.) These are all compatible with the Enhanced Edition of Baldur's Gate 1 and should be in the Big World Setup if you decide to use that.

You can ask someone in that thread or send them a direct message on there to ask them more about essential mods, but here's some I would look into for the first game.
